Billing Management Team
Our company is staffed with skilled and talented professionals with decades of experience specifically in HME customer service, billing, consulting, collections and analysis. This dedicated team is led by an executive management team that includes:

Nancy Burma, VP, HME Services
With an extensive background in billing and reimbursement, Burma founded Alternative Billing Solutions, Inc., in 1994 to provide a complete outsourced billing service. This followed her creation of Accounts Receivable Management Services, Inc., in 1987 to provide reimbursement and operations consulting that included accounts receivable collections, computer conversions, customer service and training programs. Burma previously managed customer service, billing and accounts receivable for Glasrock Home Health Care. Glasrock purchased MedEquip, Inc., in 1983, where Burma had handled customer service, billing, collection, purchasing, routing of delivery technicians, cleaning and delivery of medical equipment. She began her career with Traveler’s Medicare from 1974 to 1979 doing claims processing.
Rick Miller, CFO, Business Services
Miller has been with ABS since 1999, responsible for financial management, business development, and operations. He holds a master’s degree in organizational management from Concordia University and a bachelor’s degree in finance from Northern State University.
Sue Collins, Director of Billing Operations
Collins joined Accounts Receivable Management Services, Inc., at its inception in 1987, and currently manages billing client accounts for ABS. She is also a reimbursement/operations consultant, with expertise in collections, staff training, reorganizing billing staff and implementing accountability standards. Collins was previously assistant vice president at Midwest Federal Savings and Loan from 1985 to 1987, and at Norwest Bank, which she joined in 1965. During those years, she was responsible for a variety of operations, including electronic, savings, checking and cash positions. She was responsible for the management of collected balances from paying agents, implementation of automated systems, and for planning, budgeting, policies and procedures, staffing and customer communications.
Sandi O'Malley, Director, HME Billing & Reimbursement
O’Malley joined Accounts Receivable Management Services, Inc., in 1988. At ABS, she manages billing client accounts and is a reimbursement/operations consultant on collections, staff training, reorganizing billing staff and implementing accountability standards. She is also the MIS director for the billing software system and is responsible for training all staff and clients. O’Malley was with Glasrock Home Health Care from 1987 to 1988 where she handled collection of aged receivables, and c oordinated and reviewed all paperwork for accuracy prior to sending to AMBI for processing.
Nan Cedarblade, Director, HME Billing & Reimbursement
With ABS since 1994, Cedarblade manages billing client accounts and is a reimbursement/operations consultant on collections, staff training, reorganizing billing staff and implementing accountability standards. She also reviews billing procedures to ensure they meet Medicare and Medicaid compliance standards. Before joining ABS, Cedarblade worked eight years for HealthSpan Medical Equipment as an accounts receivable supervisor. Prior to that, she spend 10 years at Traveler’s Medicare processing DME claims, and working on informal reviews, fair hearings, and the fraud and abuse board.
Judy Bunn, Director, Medicare Reimbursement & Compliance
Bunn is the former director of compliance and education for a national supplier specializing in high-end rehab, and was a Region B DMERC ombudsman. She is an expert in reimbursement and compliance with more than 25 years’ experience in education, consulting and billing. Her experience enables her to break down complicated guidelines in a way that providers can easily understand and implement.
